Natural Essential Oils: The Golden Ingredient from Plant Extraction to Functional Skincare

Natural essential oils, often referred to as the ‘liquid gold’ of plants, are expanding beyond aromatherapy into the realm of functional skincare products. The active components they contain, such as terpenes and phenols, demonstrate exceptional biological activity in areas like antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties, making them a star ingredient in the ‘Clean Beauty’ movement.

Analysis of Essential Oil's Functional Components

- Antibacterial and Anti-inflammatory: Tea tree essential oil contains 40-50% terpinene-4-ol, with a 98% antibacterial rate against Propionibacterium acnes, making it widely used in acne-fighting products;

- Antioxidant: Rosehip oil is rich in vitamin C (1200 mg/100 g) and lycopene, with antioxidant capacity 50 times that of vitamin E, capable of neutralising 92% of free radicals;

- Barrier repair: Shea butter contains 6.8% ceramide analogues, which strengthen the epidermal lipid bilayer structure, reducing transepidermal water loss (TEWL) by 41%.

Innovative breakthroughs in application technology

The oil-soluble and unstable nature of essential oils once limited their application, but modern microencapsulation technology has completely resolved this issue: our cyclodextrin-encapsulated essential oil series encapsulates volatile limonene within water-soluble capsules, enhancing stability by 8 times and making it suitable for various formulations such as lotions and sprays. For example, encapsulated lavender essential oil in serums extends fragrance retention from 2 hours to 8 hours while preserving 95% of its soothing activity.

Safety and Sustainability

Our essential oil raw materials are certified organic by COSMOS and extracted using supercritical CO₂ technology (31.1°C/7.38 MPa), which preserves active components at low temperatures and avoids the degradation of heat-sensitive components caused by traditional distillation methods. From Bulgarian rose estates to Australian tea tree plantations, we have established a traceable raw material supply chain to ensure the natural purity of every drop of essential oil.
