Product Overview
Tranexamic Acid (INCI: Tranexamic Acid, CAS 1197-18-8), also known as Transamic Acid or Kojic Acid, is a high-purity synthetic lysine derivative engineered for precision applications in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and industrial sectors. As a white crystalline powder (≥99% HPLC purity), it offers exceptional water solubility (>100g/L at 20°C) and stability, making it ideal for formulations demanding rigorous efficacy and safety standards
Tranexamic acid is a protease inhibitor widely used in a range of whitening products designed to inhibit melanin and prevent the formation of pigmentation spots. Compared to traditional whitening ingredients, tranexamic acid exhibits a more stable effect. It inhibits the catalytic effect of proteases on peptide bond hydrolysis, thereby blocking the activity of enzymes such as inflammatory proteases. This in turn suppresses the dysfunction of epidermal cells in the area of dark spots. It also inhibits the melanin-enhancing factor complex, completely shutting off the pathway for melanin formation caused by UV exposure. This prevents dark spots from deepening, expanding, or increasing in size, effectively preventing and improving skin pigmentation.
Core Applications & Benefits
1. Cosmetic & Skincare Innovations
Blocks tyrosine-tyrosinase binding
Halts inflammation-triggered pigmentation
Prevents melanin oxidation (Maillard reaction)
Promotes shedding of existing dark spots
Concentration: 0.1%–3.0% in leave-on products (serums, creams, masks)
Synergistic Pairings: Boost efficacy with 5% Niacinamide (barrier repair) or 10% Azelaic Acid (exfoliation)
2. Pharmaceutical & Medical Solutions
Hemostatic Agent: Reduces surgical/traumatic bleeding (10% injectable formulations)
Anti-Inflammatory: Mitigates skin sensitivity post-laser treatments or chemical peels
3. Industrial & Food Technology
Textile Dye Fixative: Enhances color fastness in fabrics.
Food Preservative: Extends shelf life as a pH regulator (compliant with GB 2760 standards)
Product Benefits: Directly targets melanocytes, inhibiting tyrosinase activity. This disrupts the connection between melanocytes and keratinocytes, reducing melanin formation. Safe and non-irritating.
Applications: Whitening agent. Can be used in whitening and freckle-removing products such as serums, lotions, creams, and gels. For optimal results, it is recommended to be used at a pH of 5-6.
Mechanism of Action: The Science of Clarity
Tranexamic Acid disrupts pigmentation at four critical pathways:
Clinical Insight: Safe for sensitive/rosacea-prone skin with non-comedogenic properties
Storage & Handling
Usage: Add to deionized water, stir and dissolve evenly, add at low temperature of about 50℃
