The Ultimate Guide to Making Your Own Scented Candles — Embark on a Unique Romantic Journey

Making your own scented candles is not only a fun craft activity but also a wonderful journey to unleash your creativity and create a unique romantic atmosphere. Let's embark on this exciting and surprising creation process together!

The Ultimate Guide to Making Your Own Scented Candles — Embark on a Unique Romantic Journey 1

First, gather all the necessary materials and tools. For materials, we need soy wax or white beeswax, as these waxes burn cleaner and release fragrance more effectively; wicks, choose the appropriate thickness to ensure proper burning; heat-resistant containers such as glass jars or ceramic cups to hold the candles; and scented essential oils, select different scents based on personal preference, such as lavender for relaxation and sleep, lemon for invigoration, or rose for romance; additionally, you can prepare dyes, dried flowers, shells, and other decorative items to add a unique aesthetic to the candles. Tools include a double boiler or wax melting pot, a thermometer, a stirring rod, and tongs.

The steps are as follows: First, secure the wick to the bottom of the container using wax or glue, and use tweezers or chopsticks to hold the top of the wick upright. Then place the wax blocks in the double boiler and heat them over water until the wax is completely melted. During the heating process, pay attention to controlling the temperature, as soy wax typically melts at around 70–80°C. Once the wax has completely melted, allow it to cool slightly to 60–70°C, then add the essential oil. The ratio of essential oil to wax is generally 6–10% of the wax weight, but this can be adjusted according to personal preference. If you wish to colour the candle, add the dye after the essential oil and stir thoroughly.

Next comes the pouring stage. Slowly pour the melted wax into the prepared container, taking care not to move the wick to avoid affecting the candle's appearance and burning performance. After pouring the wax, allow the candle to cool naturally at room temperature to prevent cracks or dents caused by rapid cooling. Once the candle has completely cooled, trim the wick to a suitable length of 0.5–1 cm, and your beautiful homemade scented candle is complete!

If you wish to create gradient or two-tone scented candles, you can use the method of pouring different coloured wax liquids in batches. First, prepare the first layer of wax liquid and allow it to solidify. Then prepare the second layer of wax liquid and carefully pour it into the container to achieve a unique gradient effect.
