NIKOO AXA molecular capsule is a solution for azelaic acid application problems by applying molecular capsule technology, which is characterized by good solubility, high utilization rate and low irritation.

The solubility is more than 20% in normal temperature water (effective concentration of azelaic acid＞3.0%), and the solubility is significantly improved compared with the traditional azelaic acid application method.

Azelaic Acid, commonly known as Azelaic Acid, is a dermatologist's favorite skin care ingredient. Azelaic Acid has various effects such as acne removal, oil control, anti-inflammatory, whitening, etc. However, Azelaic Acid has the characteristics of high melting point (109-111 ℃) and low solubility (0.24% in 25℃ water; oil solubility is not good either). Currently, azelaic acid is applied by dissolving it in the oil phase and adding emulsifier to emulsify it into cream, most of the azelaic acid will be re-precipitated and stay on the surface of the skin, which can not be absorbed to take effect, and at the same time, it will be felt as sticky and thick, affecting the skin feeling; another method is to say that azelaic acid is dissolved in alkali solution (sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, etc.), and it exists in the form of ions, such as potassium azelate, sodium azelate, etc., which can not be passed through the skin barrier, and it can not pass through the skin barrier, and it will not pass through the skin barrier. The utilization rate of azelaic acid is not high.

Principle of anti-inflammatory action of azelaic acid:

-Inhibits the formation and release of reactive oxygen species, scavenges hydroxyl radicals and superoxide;

-Inhibition of CD36 (fatty acid transporter) and NADPH oxidase (Nox, the enzyme protein that regulates cellular ROS synthesis), and ultimately MAPK/NF-κB;

-Inhibits MARK p38 protein kinase and NF-κB transport ;

-Stimulates the expression of PPAR-γ (peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor), which inhibits NF-κB transport;

-Inhibition of kinin releasing enzyme 5 (KLK5) in keratinocytes inhibits antimicrobial peptides, thereby inhibiting pro-inflammatory cytokine production and alleviating the inflammatory response.

Antimicrobial Mechanism

As a broad-spectrum antimicrobial solution, azelaic acid is even more effective than antibiotics - some bacteria have shown resistance to antibiotics, but so far azelaic acid has not been found to trigger resistance and is effective against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus.

In fact, the bactericidal mechanism of azelaic acid determines that it is difficult to cause resistance: azelaic acid can enter the bacterial cytoplasm, reduce the intracellular pH value, affect the pH gradient inside and outside of the cell membrane, and thus inhibit the synthesis of intracellular DNA and proteins.

In clinical trials, topical azelaic acid can significantly reduce the number of staphylococci and propionibacteria on the skin surface and in hair follicles.
